LoveReading Says
A hugely entertaining and thrilling historical adventure novel set in 1351 by brother and sister writing team Boyd and Beth Morrison. This is the second in the Tales of the Lawless Land series which began with The Lawless Land. Fox and Willa join forces with Luciana to save her legacy, the treasure of the Order of the Knights Templar. Action swings into being from the get-go, with the prologue heading back in time to set the scene. There are other visits to the past as the plot progresses, which allows understanding to grow. The turbulent quest for the treasure is riveting, while the journey through the lands of the Mediterranean conjure scenes from cathedrals to countryside. The balance between the thriller author and curator turned author works beautifully. I particularly enjoyed letting myself free-fall into the battle and skirmishes while feeling secure in the historical setting, which has been thoroughly researched. Equally stimulating and fascinating, The Last True Templar is an exciting exploration of the past.

Boyd Morrison, Beth Morrison Press Reviews
'Together Boyd and Beth Morrison have created a mesmerizing sequel to their first venture into sibling authorship, the hugely entertaining The Lawless Land. Book two, The Last True Templar, takes the reader on an adventure through medieval Italy where the excommunicated knight Gerard Fox and his ever-resourceful lady Willa come to the aid of a noblewoman set upon by robbers. Thus begins their search for a vast treasure reputed to have belonged to the Knights Templar. To find it, they must decipher clues that take them throughout Italy and ultimately to a Mediterranean island fortress. The writers' ability to convey a sense of place is remarkable, their research shines without announcing itself as research, and the resulting experience allows the reader to feel that she is in the hands of experts. There is action galore, complicated relationships between men and women, lies, deceit, double-dealing, sword fights, arrow shooting, fires, explosions, feisty indefatigable women, honorable men, dishonorable crooks...and on and on. All this and Italy too. What a ride!' -- Elizabeth George, #1 New York Times bestselling author of Something to Hide
'The Last True Templar establishes the Morrisons as masters of rip-roaring, rollicking adventure-a triumphant follow-up to The Lawless Land that's even more exciting, with a puzzle that will dazzle fans of The Da Vinci Code. There's so much breathtaking excitement that the book should come with an oxygen tank.' -- Lee Goldberg, #1 New York Times bestselling author of Malibu Burning
'The Morrisons once again delve into the fourteenth century, this time to create a riveting take on the deep mysteries and intrigue surrounding the Templars. The Last True Templar is both a rich historical mystery and a twisty thriller set across the landscape of early Renaissance Italy. The Morrisons bring this world into exciting and vivid life with all its machinations, murders, and maliciousness. Any lover of historical mysteries or great tales of adventure will find much delight in this novel-as I did!' -- James Rollins, #1 New York Times bestseller of The Kingdom of Bones
'A stellar sequel to The Lawless Land. Gerard Fox and Lady Willa are adventuring together in 1351 Italy, hoping to overcome their problematic societal pasts to marry. They stumble upon an ambush and help an older woman, Luciana, escape the attack. That act of kindness plunges them into a decade-old search for the location of the Templar treasure. It doesn't help that Luciana's greedy husband wants her dead and the treasure for himself. To succeed in their quest, Gerard and Willa must overcome betrayal, villainy, and deception while keeping the truth of their heritage secret. The Middle Ages comes to glorious life mixed with a plot from a Clive Cussler novel. The Last True Templar is adventure at its finest, and the pacing never slows down for a second. The story reads like the authors somehow have a time machine and are merely transcribing actual events. Readers will be anxious for the next book in the series, and hopefully a big-screen adaptation is not far behind. -- Jeff Ayers - First Clue Reviews
