Treatise on Touch Synopsis

"For me, David Baker is the most expansive and moving poet to come out of the American Midwest since James Wright." - MARILYN HACKER

Treatise on Touch, featuring work from all six of David Baker's previous books of poems, is the first UK publication for this outstanding American poet.

Baker is essentially a rural poet for whom the small towns, farmlands and neighbourhoods of the Midwest are both home and subject, yet he is not parochial in the slightest; his poems have a range and breadth that connect them to the deepest strains in American and Romantic aesthetics.

Baker grew up in Missouri and now lives in Ohio, where he teaches at Denison University and Warren Wilson College. He is also poetry editor of the highly-regarded international journal of literature, culture and arts, The Kenyon Review.
