Celia Lytton, the matriarch of the family, is a wonderful character and the plot is exquisitely written as the era’s decadence is halted when war comes and as the men go off to fight women’s live are inexorably changed. A thrilling read that will have you grabbing the next one (Something Dangerous) the moment you’ve finished.
