What a read! Complex, violent, at times confusing, but always exciting. We are first introduced to a mysterious environment with a subterranean feel and peopled with scientists, guards, a Catholic cardinal and unidentified live ‘subjects’ that are being experimented on. The other group is school children with four members of staff in an outward bound centre. When these two groups collide sparks certainly fly in a hell of a finale. If you’ve not come across Brookmyre before be prepared for a highly intelligent, sharp and thought-provoking read. He is very good indeed.
Comparison: Unique but try Bateman or Christopher Buckley.
