A creepy book that creeps up on you as you discover how creepy kids can be. This is a sad, gripping tale of misfit children in an uneasy gang wasting the summer. Although the narrative keeps stressing that by the end of the summer “three of us were dead”, the denouement still comes as a nasty surprise. It’s an impressive debut.
