One of the most popular fixtures in the summer festival calendar, The Chalke History Festival team has announced that this year it will take place from the 23rd to the 29th June.

What is the Chalke History Festival?

For one week, the world's most passionate minds for historical investigation and debate head to Wiltshire. The festival brings history to life, explores new perspectives and has all the elements needed for a fun, family day out. There's a start studded programme of talks, Mouth-watering local food and drink, a plethora of activities on offer that will keep children busy for days and camping and glamping opportunities.

This year, the Chalke History Festival have announced a new partner. The multi award-winning wealth management group Evelyn Partners is to be the new lead festival partner. In a time where the financial future of many literary festivals and key cultural events all over the UK are uncertain. The newly announced multi-year deal with Evelyn Partners is great to hear about and vitally important to the longevity of the festival.

Headlines for Chalke History Festival

An exciting line-up for this summer's Chalke History Festival is already being formed. One of the headline acts that have been confirmed so far is Anthony Scaramucci. Nicknamed "The Mooch", Scaramucci served on Donald Trump's Presidential Transition Team Executive Committee in 2016 and was briefly White House Communications Director. Now, he co-hosts The Rest Is Politics US and Open Book, both hugely popular podcasts.

Other VIPs slated to appear at this year's festival are Ben Macintyre, author behind hit BBC drama SAS: Rogue Heroes who will be discussing the Iranian Embassy Siege in 1980. Social Media sensation Alice Loxton will be discussing her latest book A History of Britain in 18 Young Lives. Roman Krznaric the leading social philosopher will be unearthing fascinating insights from the last 1000 years of world history and how they could help us with the most urgent challenges facing humanity in the 21st century. Tom Parker-Bowles will be recounting fascinating tales of royal kitchens, chefs and culinary traditions as well as talking about some delicious recipes from Queen Victoria through to King Charles III. Helen Castor will recount the reigns of Richard II and Henry IV, two cousins who nearly brought a nation to the brink of disintegration with their rivalry. 

Fans of historical crime will rejoice to hear that bestselling true crime writer and author of The Suspicions of Mr Wicher, Kate Summerscale will be presenting her latest page-turner, The Murders at 10 Rillington Place. Author, journalist and broadcaster Max Hastings will be telling the gripping story of how British and American troops landed on Sword Beach on D-Day. One of the world's leading historians of modern Germany, Richard Evans will be discussing Hitler's inner circle while asking how far individuals will go when so many normal moral constraints have disappeared. 

There will also be entertainment from Britain's Got Talent finalists The D-Day Darlings as they return to the festival to get the crowds on the dancefloor on Saturday night.
