But back to thinking about the book lover who has everything. Dedicated to “readers and writers everywhere”, we can’t recommend Ex Libris: 100+ Books to Read and Reread more highly. In the words of LoveReading MD, Deborah, it’s “a beautiful, beautiful reminder of the power and the joy of books.”
A few joyous looking new collectors' editions are out in time for this Christmas. Check out the new edition of And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie. Solving the world's most puzzling mystery novel just got even more fiendish in this gorgeous new hardback collector's edition - with the final solution sealed in an envelope at the back of the book! It's firmly on our Christmas list.
A book for all ages, a book for all time, treasured by millions, The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse has a fifth anniversary edition out which is bound in midnight blue cloth, with a sky blue ribbon marker and gold gilded page edges. Inside Charlie includes a new message and two new artworks.
There's also a stunning re-issue of Stephen King's debut novel Carrie that we are all hankering after. And we could not put this collection together without a nod to the brand-new set of James Bond hardbacks that booklovers across the land have been waiting years and years for. The designer Michael Gillette commented that "the books are like a Paul Smith suite, classic but with a modern twist."
For book-lovers who like to keep track of their reading, it doesn’t get better than My Book Journal: A Reading Diary for Bibliophiles. This gorgeous journal allows readers to record their literary voyages, with space for reviews, ratings and book-club questions.
Special mention must also be made of Bedside Companion for Book Lovers. Covering an exhilarating mix of fact, fiction, letters, diaries and essays on the subject of books and reading, it also shares tips on caring for your most precious books. In addition, it advises where to find the world’s most magical libraries and bookshops.
All that said, chances are, if you’re buying gifts for the bibliophiles in your life, there comes a time when you want to branch out and give something a little different, or at least mix things up. As a result, we’ve also selected some special non-book gift ideas book lovers are sure to adore.
