Victoria Owens's interest in L.T.C. Rolt began one summer in the 1970s, when she went as a teenaged volunteer to the Talyllyn Railway. The scope and power of his writing has enthralled her ever since. Her previous books include James Brindley and the Duke of Bridgewater - Canal Visionaries (Amberley Publishing, 2015); Aqueducts and Viaducts of Britain (Amberley Publishing, 2019) and Lady Charlotte Guest - the Exceptional Life of a Female Industrialist (Pen & Sword, 2020) which was shortlisted for the 2021 Wales Book of the Year Award and won the Creative Nonfiction prize.
