Val Wake started his working life in journalism as a copyboy, on the Sydney Daily Telegraph in Australia. At nineteen he left for the UK and spent a summer as a film extra in London. He met and married his Canadian born wife, Lillian Lequereux and moved to Canada. In Canada and Australia, Val Wake worked as a newspaper and television reporter and editor.
