Roger Chartier is Emeritus Professor at the College de France and Annenberg Visiting Professor at the University of Pennsylvania. He is the author of many books, among them Forms and Meanings: Texts, Performances, and Audiences from Codex to Computer and Inscription and Erasure: Literature and Written Culture from the Eleventh to the Eighteenth Century, both also published by the University of Pennsylvania Press.
