Radhakanta Rana, PhD, FIMMM has undergraduate and post graduate academic backgrounds in Metallurgical Engineering. After a research stint at the Central Glass and Ceramic Research Institute in Kolkata, following his Master of Engineering from the then Bengal Engineering College (D.U.), Shibpur, West Bengal, India, he earned his PhD in 2009 in the same discipline from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur (IIT Kharagpur), India with a 2 years DAAD Fellowship for doctoral research at RWTH Aachen University, Germany. Dr. Rana started his professional career in early 2008 in the Aluminium Metallurgy group of the then Corus R&D in The Netherlands following the conclusion of his doctoral research. Currently, he is a senior member of the metallurgy group, High Strength Strip Steels, at Tata Steel R&D division based in IJmuiden, The Netherlands.
