Mokhtar Awang is a professional engineer and an associate professor at Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS, Perak, Malaysia. He is also a chartered engineer with Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology, UK (IMarEST). He obtained his bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering from University of Detroit Mercy, MI, USA, and both master and doctorate degrees from West Virginia University, WV, USA. Mokhtar Awang had six years of experience in industry and over 18 years of academic experience in the field of finite element modeling and friction stir welding. Lloyd Ling is the head of the Civil Engineering Department at Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) in Malaysia and an associate fellow of the ASEAN Academy of Engineering and Technology (AAET).
