Marcela López-Vallejo Olvera has a PhD in International Relations from Universidad de las Américas, Puebla (UDLAP). She counts with a MA degree in North American Studies also at UDLAP, as well as studies on Regional Development and Environment at Universidad Iberoamericana-Puebla. From 2002 to 2009 she was part-time professor of International Relations at UDLAP and also taught several courses at the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla (BUAP). She has worked at the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs and at the Federal Ministry of Public Education, as well as for the international lobby firm Burson-Marsteller Mexico. Since January 2010, she is a full-time professor at the School of International Relations at Universidad Popular Autónoma del Estado de Puebla (UPAEP). She counts with several national and international publications on topics such as environment and climate change, energy policy, local diplomacy, global governance and regionalization, especially for North America.
