Books By Katharine Briggs - Author
Katharine Briggs (1898 - 1980) was a writer, scholar and folklorist. After completing a doctoral thesis at Oxford University on folklore in seventeenth-century literature, she committed the rest of her life to the study of British and Irish fairies and folk stories. She wrote many books for both adults and children, culminating in A Dictionary of Fairies, her life's work. She was appointed president of the Folklore Society in 1967, which to this day awards an annual literature prize in her name to celebrate her status as Britain's greatest folklorist.
