Jana Mader is a writer, scholar and translator. She has taught at the University of North Carolina at Asheville and the Juilliard School and is now at Bard College, where she serves as the Director of Academic Programs at the Hannah Arendt Center. Jana earned her PhD in comparative literature from the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich. She is the author of both fiction and nonfiction, and has written a novel and a book about the Hudson River Valley in New York, where she lives. When in New York City, she's often browsing the poetry section at the Strand Bookstore in the East Village or enjoying an espresso at Cafe Reggio in Greenwich Village.
