The Editors: Emma Gilby is Research Fellow at Emmanuel College, Cambridge. She specialises in seventeenth-century French literature, with a broad interest in the relations between aesthetics and ethics in that period. She is working on a book on Corneille, Pascal and Boileau and their engagements with the sublime. Katja Haustein is completing a Ph.D. thesis at Trinity Hall, Cambridge, on 'Life, Writing and Photography in Proust, Benjamin and Barthes'. Her recent work includes an article on conceptions of selfhood and otherness in Proust's A la recherche du temps perdu.
