Camino de la Luna - Reconciliation (Part 2)
What divides us? What sets us against each other? What stops us from being able to come home to our true selves? I had found truth in Thailand, discovered another wall inside me and freed another part of my soul. There were things to be done, journeys to be taken, strangers to meet, mistakes and regrets to put right and only some of them were mine. But my mistakes alone were enough to change everything. I had started in Spain, this Camino de la Luna, though it started long before and will not end until I die, but where next? Would I finally cross the equator to the Southern Hemisphere, to Africa and could I ever heal the new wounds in my relationships, could I find reconciliation, or as they call it in South Africa, Ubuntu? Would I ever find peace... Would I ever put down my rucksack? Camino de la Luna is a seven book series (which had to be split into ten for the audiobooks): 'Camino de la Luna - Take What You Need' (parts 1, 2 and 3) 'Camino de la Luna - Unconditional Love' 'Camino de la Luna - Forgiveness' 'Camino de la Luna - Compassion and Self-Compassion' 'Camino de la Luna - Courage' 'Camino de la Luna - Truth' 'Camino de la Luna - Reconciliation' (parts 1 and 2) with a prequel 'Japan Is Very Wonderful' and related book 'free Feeling Real Emotions Everyday' “Thank you so much for including me… your writing is so inspirational. Very emotional reading your journey as if it wasn’t for you I would never ever have explored as much as I have… and… continued to help others as you have done. Keep being amazing Pearl, you are one of a kind...” Selina Wedderburn

Into Siberia: George Kennan's Epic Journey Through the Brutal, Frozen Heart of Russia
In the late nineteenth century, close diplomatic relations existed between the United States and Russia. All that changed when George Kennan went to Siberia in 1885 to investigate the exile system and his eyes were opened to the brutality Russia was wielding to suppress dissent. Over ten months Kennan traveled eight thousand miles, mostly in horse-drawn carriages, sleighs, or on horseback. He endured suffocating sandstorms in the summer and blizzards in the winter. His interviews with convicts and political exiles revealed how Russia ran on the fuel of inflicted pain and fear. Prisoners in the mines were chained day and night to their wheelbarrows as punishment. Babies in exile parties froze to death in their mothers' arms. Kennan came to call the exiles' experience in Siberia a 'perfect hell of misery.' After returning to the United States, Kennan set out to generate public outrage over the plight of the exiles, writing the renowned Siberia and the Exile System. He then went on a nine-year lecture tour to describe the suffering of the Siberian exiles, intensifying the newly emerging diplomatic conflicts between the two countries which last to this day.

Where Two Worlds Touch: An Outsider's Memoir in England
After the fairy tale of Happily Ever After ends in heartbreak, what then? From multi-award-winning author River Faire comes an inspiring account of second chances, healing, inexplicable magic, and following the soul’s compass. River, an alternative healer and Paris-trained chef—a decidedly reluctant mystic—returns to England from America to help his ex-partner, back from the brink of death. Stepping into a London life he left behind, haunted by ghosts, he finds himself on an unanticipated journey of the heart. When the two men relocate to the English countryside, he discovers more than a charming pastoral landscape, he unexpectedly glimpses the fabric of life itself. With disarming honesty and a searching, lyrical voice, Where Two Worlds Touch is a transcendent narrative about navigating the intricacies of the human heart, no matter whom we love. An invitation to say yes to uncertainty and vulnerability, to trust the unknowable mystery, while seeking the place we belong and what is uniquely ours to bring. A genre-defying memoir—one part love story, one part celebration of the table, one part ode to nature, and one part soul guide—woven as an indelible offering that lingers long past the final page.

Mansa Musa: The Richest Man in History Who Ruled the Malian Empire
This audiobook is narrated by a digital voice. This book is narrated by a digital voice. Mansa Musa, also known as Musa I, assumed the role of the ninth Mansa of the Mali Empire, a prominent West African realm, reigning from approximately 1280 to 1337. While the precise assessment of his wealth remains elusive, Musa has earned the title of 'the wealthiest person in history.' At the zenith of his rule, Musa expanded the Mali Empire's boundaries, incorporating territories like Gao and Timbuktu. To strengthen ties with the broader Muslim world, he embarked on a pilgrimage to Mecca in 1324, accompanied by a sizable entourage and a considerable amount of gold. His generosity in Cairo during this journey triggered a decade-long decline in gold prices and garnered widespread attention across the Muslim world. Musa actively promoted Islamic scholarship, drawing scholars from various Muslim regions to Mali. Under his patronage, Timbuktu emerged as a center of learning, exemplified by the construction of the Djinguereber Mosque. His reign marked Mali's pinnacle of power and magnificence. Our understanding of Musa primarily relies on Arabic texts, particularly works by Al-Umari and Ibn Khaldun, composed after his pilgrimage. The Tarikh as-Sudan and the Tarikh al-fattash, written in Timbuktu in the 17th century, offer additional insights.

The Voyage of The Aegre: From Scotland to the South Seas in a Shetland boat
The Voyage of The Aegre is a dramatic true account of how a plan to sail a little fishing boat from the Highlands of Scotland down the coast to England turned into a trans-oceanic odyssey for Nick and Julie Grainger. It was the 1970s and their simple wooden boat was equipped with none of the aids modern yachts enjoy. Navigation was by sextant and compass, food cooked on a Primus, and weather forecasting by guesswork. Diligent preparation before they set sail eventually saved their lives in the violent storms and dangers they encountered, vividly described in this absorbing narrative. Their capsize at night in a fierce storm south of Tahiti and subsequent survival makes a gripping climax to the story. A born storyteller, the author has produced a stirring tale that ranks among classic sea adventures. From a simpler age of sailing when you were led across oceans by the sun and the stars, this book deserves to join the classics. It is simply a top class read - Paul Heiney, Royal Cruising Club. A terrific adventure - John Ridgway, 1966 North Atlantic rower, Round the World sailor, Adventurer, Author. One of the greatest sailing stories I have ever read - John Quirk, Afloat magazine.

Kingdom of Kush: The Famous Civilization That Emerged from Nubia
This audiobook is narrated by a digital voice. Situated in present-day northern Sudan and southern Egypt, the ancient Nubian Kingdom of Kush thrived along the Nile Valley, marking an early cradle of civilization. Around 2450 to 1450 BC, the city-state of Kerma emerged as a dominant political force, reigning over the Nile Valley between the first and fourth cataracts—a territory comparable to Egypt. Recognized by the Egyptians as 'Kush,' Kerma engaged in intermittent warfare, trade, and cultural exchange with Egypt over the ensuing centuries. During the New Kingdom period (1550–1070 BC), Egypt exerted control over much of Nubia, but following Egypt's decline in the Late Bronze Age collapse, the Kushites restored their empire in Napata (modern Karima, Sudan). While sharing cultural traits with Egypt, Kush developed its own distinct civilization. King Kashta peacefully ascended to the throne of Upper Egypt, and his daughter, Amenirdis, became the Divine Adoratrice of Amun in Thebes.

Ancient Nubia: History of One of the Oldest Civilizations in the World
This audiobook is narrated by a digital voice. This audiobook is narrated by a digital voice. Nubia, an enchanting region along the Nile River, stretches from the Nile's first cataract, just below Aswan, Egypt, to the confluence of the Blue and White Niles near Khartoum, Sudan, or more precisely, Al Dabbah. This historical land holds the remnants of the Kerma culture, a beacon of one of ancient Africa's earliest civilizations, flourishing from approximately 2500 BC until its subjugation by the New Kingdom of Egypt under Pharaoh Thutmose I in 1500 BC. The legacy of the Kerma culture endured for 400 years under the rule of the heirs of the New Kingdom of Egypt, shaping the cultural landscape of Nubia. A pivotal chapter in Nubian history unfolded with the rise of the Kingdom of Kush, a formidable empire that asserted dominance over Egypt in the ninth century BC, during the reign of Piye. This supremacy persisted through the 25th Dynasty, only to be succeeded by the native Egyptian 26th Dynasty a century later. The northern reaches of Nubia witnessed a transformative period when Greek and Roman forces invaded and annexed the territory from the 3rd century BC to the 3rd century AD. In the Greco-Roman world, this region bore the moniker Dodekaschoinos. The fourth century AD marked the intrusion of the Ethiopian Kingdom of Aksum into Kush, leading to the establishment of three Christian kingdoms—Nobatia, Makuria, and Alodia. Makuria and Alodia stood resilient for almost a millennium, their endurance etched in the annals of time. However, the sixteenth century ushered in a partition of Nubia, with the Ottomans claiming the northern half and the Sennar sultanate seizing the southern half. This era also witnessed the rapid Islamization and partial Arabization of the Nubian people.
