Ram Dass The Teachings Of Neem Karoli Baba: On Reincarnation
"Throughout history, some of the most thoughtful minds have advocated that life does not end with the death of our body, but continues on via a process known as reincarnation. In the Western world, followers of the Orphic religion in ancient Greece were the first known exponents of reincarnation. They were succeeded by Pythagoras, Socrates, Plato and a host of other philosophers. The Vedic literature of India advocates that the soul, or atma, gives life to the body. Life does not arise from a particular combination of material elements as some modern scientists theorize. At the time of death, we leave one body and enter a new one. That is called reincarnation. The concept is not as alien as it might seem. We can observe that we change from one body to another throughout our lifetime. Our body at birth is completely different from our adult body. Yet throughout these changes, the conscious self remains the same. Similarly, the conscious self remains the same at death and transfers from one body to the next in the cycle of reincarnation. Our present body is the result of a long series of actions and reactions in previous lives. The law that governs this is known as karma: every action has a reaction. Our previous actions have produced our present body, and our current actions will determine our next body. Only in the human form can we free ourselves from the endless cycle of reincarnation, of birth and death, by re-establishing our eternal, loving relationship with Lord Krishna. As Krishna states in Bhagavad Gita “From the highest planet in the material world down to the lowest, all are places of misery wherein repeated birth and death take place. But one attains to My abode.. never takes birth again.” Here in this unique audiobook, are the ancient secrets of reincarnation from a 50 year devotee of the Vedas and devotional yoga. A rare mystical audiobook adventure."

The Yoga Of Love Baba Ram Dass & Neem Karoli Baba
"'Money should be used to help others.” 'Attachment is the strongest block to realization.” 'Love is the strongest medicine.' Neem Karoli Baba Known to his followers as Maharaj, Neem Karoli Baba was a noted guru, mystic and devotee of Lord Hanuman. Here is the essence of his remarkable life and teachings. He is known outside India for being the spiritual master of a number of Americans who travelled to India in the 1960s and 70s, the most well-known being spiritual teachers Ram Dass and Bhagavan Das, as well as musicians Krishna Das and Jai Uttal. His popular ashrams are in Kainchi, Vrindavan, Rishikesh, Shimla, Neem Karoli village, Lucknow, Delhi and Taos, New Mexico. Dr. Richard Alpert, a former Harvard professor and Timothy Leary cohort, was an icon of the hippie, LSD-fueled revolution of the 1960s. Thereafter, on a trip to India - like Clark Kent changing into Superman - he became the much-beloved spiritual teacher Baba Ram Das. His 1970s' iconic book 'Be Here Now' turned on a generation to the deep, non-sectarian spirituality within us all. Author Jagannatha Dasa became friends with Ram Das in the early '70s and traveled across America, playing Indian drums at his speaking engagements. During that time, the two discussed the publication of some of his lectures, but nothing was ever done. Now, finally, after all these years, Jagannatha Dasa keeps his promise to his old friend, publishing this original audio history of one of our most inspired and cherished spiritual teachers."

"God is often understood as the Supreme Person, a being with distinct characteristics, will, and identity, rather than an impersonal force or vast, limitless energy. This view emphasizes that God is not just an abstract, formless power but a conscious and purposeful entity, with a personal relationship to the universe and human beings. He is a being with whom one can engage in a meaningful relationship, defined by love, devotion, and moral principles. This personal nature of God provides a foundation for worship, prayer, and the pursuit of ethical living, offering a sense of connection rooted in the understanding of God as a sentient, sovereign personality. God as the Supreme Person aligns with many religious traditions, depicting God as a creator, sustainer, and ruler of the universe. This being possesses infinite wisdom, power, and goodness, reflecting a moral and compassionate nature rather than a faceless or indifferent force. As a Supreme Person, God is not distant or detached but is actively involved in the affairs of creation, guiding and shaping the destiny of all living beings. God as a Supreme Person brings a sense of justice and accountability to human life. Unlike an abstract force, a personal God holds individuals to moral standards, providing a clear basis for right and wrong. This vision of God calls people to ethical behavior, compassion, and integrity, with the understanding that they are responsible to God for their actions. Lastly, the Supreme Person is central to the idea of divine love, unlike an impersonal energy that might be indifferent, God as a person is understood to be the ultimate source of love and compassion. This love is not abstract but personal, extending to all creation with the desire for each individual's well-being and spiritual growth. Through this personal relationship, God’s love offers comfort, healing, and strength to those who seek it, providing a deep sense of peace and hope."

In 1915, he formally became a monk of the Swami Order, receiving the name Paramahansa Yogananda. By 1920, he traveled to the United States to speak at the International Congress of Religious Liberals in Boston, marking the beginning of his decades-long mission to introduce the wisdom of yoga to the West. Establishing the Self-Realization Fellowship in 1925, he built a spiritual home for seekers from all walks of life, emphasizing meditation, devotion, and the balance between inner realization and worldly responsibilities. "The Yoga Sutras is a foundational text in the philosophy and practice of yoga. It is attributed to the sage Patanjali and is composed of 196 sutras, which are concise aphorisms or threads of wisdom. These sutras serve as a guide to understanding the principles and practices of yoga, encompassing both its physical and spiritual aspects. Written in Sanskrit, the Yoga Sutras are organized into four chapters, or 'padas,' each of which addresses different facets of yoga. The first chapter, called the Samadhi Pada, delves into the nature of yoga and its ultimate goal, which is to attain spiritual realization and liberation from suffering. Patanjali outlines the obstacles to achieving this goal and introduces the concept of 'chitta vritti,' the fluctuations of the mind, which yoga seeks to control and calm. The second chapter, the Sadhana Pada, outlines the practical steps and disciplines needed to progress along the yogic path. It discusses the eight limbs of yoga, known as Ashtanga Yoga, which include ethical principles, physical postures, breath control, and meditation techniques. These limbs provide a comprehensive framework for living a balanced and purposeful life, both on and off the yoga mat. The Yoga Sutras continue to be a source of inspiration and guidance for yogis and spiritual seekers worldwide, offering timeless wisdom on the journey toward self-realization and inner peace."
