The Kleshas: Exploring the Elusiveness of Happiness
The Yoga Sutras are a collection of ancient directions about the mental and physical benefits of yoga. In their original form they are brief concepts, perfect for remembering in an oral tradition, but which require a teacher's explanation to fully understand. Deborah Adele uses a lifetime of learning and study to bring understanding to these essential yoga concepts. The Sutras explain that the Kleshas create versions of the truth for our minds that are the most appealing. These appealing truths are often false, and they create entanglements that prevent us from being truly happy. As we grasp for more appealing truths, we only create a cycle of needs and wants that confusingly never satisfy. The physical and mental practices of yoga are designed to break this cycle of dissatisfaction. This book provides the insight needed to understand the Kleshas and guides the listener to simple attainable practices that they can easily add to their yoga routine.

Resilient: Achieving the American Dream
This is a story about never giving up on my version of the American Dream. An inspirational journey through life as a man proving to be resilient. On several occasions after hearing me tell a few stories over the years, people mentioned that I should write a book about my life. It's filled with interesting anecdotes that shaped the person that I am and as I looked back on it all, I came to the realization that my story is not all that unique. There are countless people in the world who have endured equally difficult lives and in many cases much worse than mine and my heart goes out to them. For me, this was a monumental feat and I feel blessed to have accomplished it. I believe some people will relate to my book and others may be inspired. I spent 2 years working on it and in the beginning, I experienced horrible flashbacks that led to severe anxiety attacks. I sought therapy because I needed professional help in dealing with those powerful emotions. I opened Pandora's box and left the lid open searching for 'Hope' at the bottom of it. The amount of work I had to put in just to heal from the PTSD was immense and I did not set out to create this book to share with the public. I wrote this book to personally heal and move past my years of depression and trauma. Many of my family and friends do not know this information and I wanted to share it with them so they could know me better. After my memoir was complete, I decided that I would also like to share it with the world in hopes that it may help someone understand that dark days don't last forever because there will always be light at the end of the tunnel. You just have to keep fighting and moving forward.

On Thriving: Harnessing Joy Through Life's Great Labors
A renowned doula shares powerful lessons on healing and thriving through the murky seasons of life in this moving, intimate guide to deeper self-awareness and radical joy. "This book is a beacon of resilience. . . . A must-read for anyone committed to growth."-Erica Chidi Cohen, author of Nurture We've all been there: We take a pause, look at our lives, and desire more-more from our relationships, more from our wellness journeys, maybe simply more from ourselves. For some, it might be more fun, more peace, more exploration-but what does it take to get to the other side of living in survival mode? In On Thriving, Brandi Sellerz-Jackson helps us wade through what she calls the four great labors of our lives-labors that she's had to overcome and that she has led many clients through. Drawing from her experiences as a doula and intimate storytelling from her own life, Sellerz-Jackson guides us through the many phases of these great labors-labors that we can get stuck in, stunting our ability to thrive. Across age, gender, economic status, or background, we all move through the great labor of our relationships, our mental health, grief and loss, and the feeling of being othered. Sellerz-Jackson doesn't shy away from the pitfalls of these labors but rather challenges us to actively remain present within them and ask ourselves: What do I need to thrive in the space I'm currently in? In On Thriving, you'll come to recognize the survival tools you've picked up along the way and exchange them for thriving tools and "rich-uals." You'll commit to no longer making a home out of chaos and rediscovering sanctuary within yourself. Comparing our thriving to that of plant life, Sellerz-Jackson simplifies the complicated-and oftentimes overwhelming-journey as we attempt to grow in an inhospitable environment. With insightful and vulnerable storytelling, she invites a deep, soul-stirring investigation of our past and present to gather all that we need to thrive right where we are, right now.

Returning Home to Our Bodies: Reimagining the Relationship Between Our Bodies and the World--Practic
For readers of adrienne maree brown, Staci K. Haines, and Robin Wall Kimmerer A body-based healing model that interrogates what we've been wrongly taught about hierarchies of nature and the body-and pushes back against the white supremacy, colonialism, patriarchy, and capitalism embedded in modern embodiment practices. Pushing back against a consumerist, pleasure-centric somatics industry that privileges product over process, Abigail Rose Clarke reminds us that truly meaningful embodiment practice nurtures our relationships among self, nature, and community. Combining the rigor of the scientific method with the poetry and lyricism of movement and somatic studies, Clarke's somatic learning system-The Embodiment of Life Method-centers the body as a guide through today's most seemingly intractable social and environmental challenges, reclaiming the body as a source of liberatory comfort in times of great uncertainty and yet, possibility. With tools and practices to help us better understand and dismantle the many ways our bodies are weaponized to serve domination systems, topics covered include: - Harnessing the vitality of curiosity and experimentation - Using nature as a guide to possibility - Embracing the necessity of difference - Exposing the lie of universal isolation - Dismantling the fallacy of hierarchy - Uncovering the truth of endless capacity - Awe as a driving force for transformation With methods honed over decades of inquiry, teaching, and practice, Returning Home to Our Bodies provides a lucid, body-based model of healing and restoration-one that imagines a world beyond systems of domination, marginalization, and isolation to nurture embodied, whole-community liberation. Let It Go: Free Yourself from Old Beliefs and Find a New Path to Joy
For readers of Ross Gay and listeners of Therapy for Black Girls, a reflective examination of Black self-love and joy that guides the reader to ditch old beliefs, achieve difficult unlearnings and redefine language, relationships and love to find their own unique path to joy. A warm, candid and essential book that will guide the reader to carve a new path to joy as unique as each individual. Created by the founder of Breathing Space Creative Literary Studio, acclaimed writer and editor Chelene Knight, Let It Go draws on personal experience and the advice of leaders from various Black communities to share hard-won tools for joy-discovery—tools such as how to say no with love; how to call back activities that feel good; how to reshape communication with those closest to you; how to revise language; and most of all, how to learn to let go in order to redefine what we think joy is. Organized around the seasons and the natural cycle of reflection and renewal, Let It Go showcases, through conversation and solitary reflection, the broad spectrum of Black realities and reveals the colourful kaleidoscope of joy and your own ways to find it. From Let It Go: “My own path to joy has been blurred by hardship, but part of my journey is that I refuse to believe that all of my negative experiences are tethered to being a Black woman, even though it can feel like this, even when some people want me to feel like this. And when I feel it, it’s a pain that swells and refuses to subside. I didn’t learn this on my own and I don’t think I can unlearn it on my own. But I’m willing to do the work. I want my joy as I find it; I want my joy as it comes. I’m willing to let the wind push me backwards through the difficult moments. Maybe there’s something big holding you back too. Take a breath. What is it? Maybe we can let go, together.”
