Being a Happy Mind

I adored this book of poetry and storytelling by Sarah Bizsley. Her style is smoothly and flowing, and I loved the simplicity of it.

I adored this book of poetry and storytelling by Sarah Bizsley. Her style is smoothly and flowing, and I loved the simplicity of it. I could relate to the stories being told, and understand them deeply; I feel that everyone could pick up this collection and find something that sings to them. My personal favourite was "As the Waves Roll In". As someone who lives near the ocean, I could really picture, smell the salt air, and feel the release of having your feet in the water. I also particularly enjoyed "Haiku (4)" and Limericks (2), both of which I found beautiful in different ways. Five stars!

These are the author’s happy poems to inspire both the reading of poems, and perhaps also the writing of poetry.

Poems to bring more happiness. These are the author’s happy poems to inspire both the reading of poems, and perhaps also the writing of poetry. Many of them have arisen from her noticing things in everyday life which bring her joy. Although the noticing isn’t listed as one of her aims with the project, I do think that one of the happy results of reading this could be increased noticing by the reader. And hopefully some increased happiness. The reading, writing and / or the noticing are all good practice especially if we are feeling low. I particularly liked The Toss of a Coin poem about trusting your instincts when making decisions seems difficult.

This book is a varied collection of poems mainly based on looking for the beautiful things in life.

This book is a varied collection of poems mainly based on looking for the beautiful things in life. There are poems to evoke every emotion but the over riding theme seems to be mindfulness and gratitude for the simple things in life. There are a few haikus but mostly mid length poems. I enjoyed looking through it and it was interesting to read someone else's take on life.
