Unusual, unnerving and a thrilling read.
An interesting mix of genres made this an unusual and enjoyable read for me. Part family drama, part supernatural fiction and part psychological thriller, we follow the story of Anna, a successful actress, as she goes through IVF treatment in a last ditch attempt to become pregnant after many years of trying to conceive. Strange things start to happen as Anna attends hospital for her treatment, is she suffering from stress related paranoia or is something more sinister happening? She becomes pregnant at last but things go from bad to worse as she has a miscarriage but strangely still seems to feel a baby moving inside of her. Is she still pregnant? If so, is the baby fit and well? The pregnancy is far from normal and…well, you’ll have to read the book to discover the terrifying truth!

Delicate Condition follows actress Anna Alcott, who has been trying to get pregnant through IVF with her husband. After several failed attempts, she finally falls pregnant, but the pregnancy doesn’t quite go as smoothly as she was expecting.
The story is slow to develop but is so gripping and creepy that I didn’t mind. There are also plenty of unexpected twists that keep you wanting to know more.
The characters are well-crafted and feel realistic. As the story develops and unfolds, you’re always questioning who to trust. I can’t go into too much detail about this book in this review, but I devoured it!!

I have never read a such a clever story with twists at the end, that I didn’t see coming and I don’t think any readers will be able to either.
I simply cannot believe that Delicate Condition is Danielle Valentine’s debut novel. Danielle has weaved a fantastic thriller that my eyes were constantly wide open, with fear for Anna Alcott. This is a debut novel I’m shouting loudly about, it’s a must read, must buy.

With actress Anna dating Dex, they got married 8 months later. All Anna wants is for them to have a baby to complete their family.
For Anna to have a baby she has go through IVF. But something weird is happening to Anna, every important appointment on her mobile phone for her visits to the hospital, are being changed.
Then somehow someone breaks into their house and takes the ultrasound photograph of her baby. To make things really upsetting for Anna she feels someone is following her.
When Anna has to visit the hospital, she has a miscarriage after seeing an ultrasound technician.
I was really concerned for Anna, with everything going wrong in her life. Someone changing her appointment, following her, a miscarriage, and then someone messed with her charts at the hospital.
Then after losing her baby, Anna could feel a baby kicking inside her, but once again her husband didn’t believe her.
I didn’t know who was messing with Anna, with a few friends and her husband not believing anything that Anna told him. Throughout the story there were so many suspects. And there was someone that seemed to not want Anna to have a baby. I suspected Dex her husband was working with one Anna’s friends that had something to do with everything that Anna, was going through. But was I right?
