"With action, thrills, twists and sarcastic comebacks, the team of ‘loveable rogues’ are now home from the front line but their fight hasn’t stopped yet."
Another explosive story from John Righten In the aftermath of the events of The Lenka Trilogy, ‘The Englander’ by John Righten picks up Connor Pierce’s story, in a hair-raising opening that sets the pace for the rest of the novel. Pierce has made enemies, predominantly of the Wolves, a team of deadly mercenaries who have been dragged into the light in a previous series and are becoming more volatile now cornered. Pierce, the eponymous “Englander” does what he must to keep those he cares about safe, while Wolves are being brought to justice by Lenka. I haven’t read all of the books by this author but I have read the previous book, Reflection, which stood me in good stead to follow the narrative of this book. I would recommend at least reading The Lenka Trilogy in order to fully understand this book’s starting point. However Righten’s previous series, The Lochran Trilogy is also connected. Once the plot gets underway, it’s action packed. With one man working almost alone to stop an evil organisation, Connor is akin to a Jason Bourne figure, with plenty of fights and explosions to match. Fans of action thrillers will be swept along for the ride in no time. Meanwhile, his friends and family back home at the orphanage in Ireland are also facing their own struggles. For those that have read previous books, there are plenty of familiar characters to get reacquainted with. With action, thrills, twists and sarcastic comebacks, the team of ‘loveable rogues’ are now home from the front line but their fight hasn’t stopped yet.
