A study investigating alternative options for future agricultural policies in Turkey in the context of its agricultural trade relations with the EU. Even though agricultural trade is not covered by the Customs Union (CU), more than 70 per cent of Turkey's agricultural exports to the EU entered without any import barrier in 1995. The remaining trade is largely subject to moderate tariffs, but high tariffs are applied to meat, dairy products, cereals, olive oil and some processed products. This report examines the impact of the two policy options for the future: keeping the status quo or free trade.
