Architects of the Southwest: Grounded in the Mountains and the Desert includes a stunning showcase of residential architecture and landscape design from Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, Texas, and Utah. All of the projects selected highlight the Southwest as an unparalleled region with a rich variety of landscapes-rolling hills, mountains, canyons, mesas, deserts, and volcanoes. Add to these potential extremes of heat, cold and drought, and one is faced with unique design challenges along with the opportunity to create works that adapt to the natural environment, rather than conquer it, all the while addressing sustainability.
