M. El Hombre De La Providencia / M. The Man of Providence Synopsis

ENGLISH DESCRIPTION

"After M. The Son of the Century (Strega Prize 2019, one of the books of the year for Babelia and praised by Roberto Saviano as 'a masterpiece'), comes the second installment in the great literary project of our time.

"The best narrative vaccine we have against populism." -Sette -Corriere della Sera

In 1925, a figure in a black shirt with an arrogant expression begins to occupy all the intervals of Italian public life. Benito Mussolini, now the youngest President of the Council in the history of Italy, prepares for the next step in the fascist project: to merge his name with that of his own country. But the path of authoritarianism is not simple: internal struggles in the party, tough parliamentary battles, the revolutionary threat, the need to expand territorially, a turbulent personal and palace life, assassination attempts and the new relationship with a young Herr Hitler, who's more popular every day. Everything just so that Mussolini, fascism and Italy are one. This process will take shape until, in 1932, a decade of the march on Rome is completed. But there's no time to look back, the future seems to hold a bright promise for fascism.
