Perspective views, such as block diagrams and fence diagrams, have always been an important means of scientific visualization in geology. Advanced three-dimensional computer graphics are a new tool for the construction of such views. This book contains papers presented at an international conference that brought together working groups engaged in the development of 3-D visualization programs for geologic purposes, and included contributors from universities, government agencies, the mining industry (especially oil companies) and software companies engaged in geology and geographic information systems.;Many different aspects of three-dimensional computer graphics are discussed in these papers. Emphasized are different approaches to modelling and rendering a 3-D geometric model, of transforming process simulation results into perspective views, and the use of three-dimensional computer graphics as an additional tool for interpretation and prediction.
