English summary: Since the European modern age, religion has been increasingly suspected of being tied to a cosmology which is no longer scientifically justifiable, as well as of being incapable of following modern thinking on evolution. If that were true, a contemporary theology of creation would not be possible, and religious belief would become completely isolated from today's scientifically accepted concept of the world and humanity. In the meantime, it has become apparent that the boundaries between the sciences and different forms of life, belief and activity cannot be drawn as clearly as certain mechanistic world-views have assumed. This new state of dialogue has mainly been made possible by the philosophy of science and religion within American Pragmatism (Ch. S. Peirce), the significance of which Hermann Deuser illustrates and develops in seven essays with the help of up to date and applicable case studies.

German description: Religion steht seit der europaischen Neuzeit zunehmend unter dem Verdacht, einer wissenschaftlich nicht mehr vertretbaren Kosmologie verpflichtet und erst recht zum modernen Prozessdenken der Evolution unfahig zu sein. Trafe beides zu, ware eine zeitgemasse Schopfungstheologie unmoglich und der religiose Glaube geriete in eine vollstandige Isolation gegenuber dem als Wissenschaftsstandard geltenden Welt- und Menschenbild seiner eigenen Gegenwart. Inzwischen hat sich gezeigt, dass die Grenzen zwischen den Wissenschaften und den Lebens-, Glaubens- und Handlungsformen gar nicht so exklusiv gezogen werden konnen, wie bestimmte mechanistische Weltanschauungen angenommen haben. Diese neue Situation des Dialogs hat vor allem die Wissenschafts- und Religionsphilosophie des amerikanischen Pragmatismus (Ch. S. Peirce) ermoglicht, dessen Bedeutung Hermann Deuser in den sieben Essays an jeweils aktuellen Problemstellungen auslotet und entwickelt.
