In this quick to read book, the author introduces “busy parents” to the benefits of implementing meditation as part of your child’s routine as early as possible. Sharing examples of the benefits, such as helping your child to develop concentration and self-confidence, as well as some of the spiritual origins of meditation, this is a comprehensive argument of the benefits meditation offers in today’s world. To make this book an even more useful and one-stop guide for the “busy parents” this book is marketed for, it would be great to see a couple of activities or instructions for different meditative practices throughout. Although different forms of meditation are described throughout the book, perhaps including them in a more instructive format and in a format that is discernible from the rest of the text so that a parent can flip back through and find them at a glance would be helpful. The author uses his wealth of knowledge to explain the benefits of introducing meditation to children and how it contributes to emotional and mental wellbeing. The author’s experience and knowledge of different spiritual teachings helps to inform this book and the contexts of each meditative technique discussed, although meditation can be incorporated regardless of religious background. This is a detailed and persuasive argument and the first step for any parent wanting to know the benefits of this more holistic approach to their child’s wellbeing.
