LoveReading Says
Lady Isobel Farrar has a secret, and when she returns to England from a life in Canada, she must finally deal with it.
The secret is a son, who she gave up for adoption a week after his birth almost forty years before. Farrar, who is sixty-three, has spent a lifetime wondering what happened to him, and her love for him never wavered.
When Frank Brodie shows up unexpectedly at Halcyon Hill, her much-loved estate, they cautiously begin to build a fragile new relationship as mother and son.
The Redemption of Isobel Farrar by Alan Robert Clark, is the story of the redemption of Isobel Farrar, yes, but also the redemption and recovery of her son Frank Brodie. This is the fourth novel by Alan Robert Clark.
Isobel is heartbroken to learn that Frank’s life was far from the idyllic loving environment she was promised when she decided to put him up for adoption. The son of a butcher, he never felt loved or even wanted, and was cruelly mistreated. His unhappy childhood contributes to his unhappy adulthood.
Against a backdrop of the 1920s, this sweeping historical tale shows how people can recover from the secrets that could otherwise destroy them and go on to live happy lives.
