This book was completed in June of 1996 and under contract in August 1997. Winner of the inaugural Small Press Award for Poetry in 1997 Heyen has published many collections of poetry, among them, Crazy Horse in Stillness (BOA, 1995, 1-880238-29-2, CBSD sold 1111 to date) Long Island Light, Erika: Poems of the Holocaust, (Time Being Books, 1-877770-20-5) Pterodactyl Rose (Time Being, 1-877770-24-8) and The Host: Selected Poems 1965-1990 (Time Being, 1-877770-52-3). His last book, Pig Notes & Dumb Music: Prose on Poetry, will be published by BOA Editions, Ltd. in January 1998. Heyen was born in Brooklyn and grew up on Long Island. Heyen teaches at SUNY Brockport in Brockport, NY. Senior Fulbright Lecturer in American Literature to Germany.
