"Ivor picks his chaotic way through the trail of murders that ensue, when the Haddock also goes missing. But will Ivor find Wanda and the Haddock? Will justice be done?"
This is Keven Shevels third experimental novel about the Dogsbreath family, all of whom seem to be called Ivor, which does make it hard to see how the family can continue. Yet continue it does in all manner of settings, time zones and manifestations, both actual and very imaginary. The latest Ivor is a private detective and this is not a spoiler, as the title of the book is 'The Maltese Haddock'. Ivor is approached by Lionel Oft to find his sister, Wanda Oft, who has mysteriously disappeared! The case is complicated by the fact that Wanda is a werewolf, who, in her day job, is responsible for the security of the priceless Maltese Haddock, which is on display at the museum where she works. Engaging the help of the local werewolf community and pitting his not considerable wits against some extremely unsavoury underworld characters, Ivor picks his chaotic way through the trail of murders that ensue, when the Haddock also goes missing. But will Ivor find Wanda and the Haddock? Will justice be done? Will the author soon entertain us with what promises to be the equally hilarious story of Ivor Dogsbreath, cowboy. Is the Pope Catholic?
