"A cosy and light-hearted Christmas mystery that takes place entirely in world populated by cats. "
A cosy Christmas mystery featuring all the traditional tropes: snowstorms, warm meals by a blazing fire, charming inns, a large manor house, possible ghosts and Christmas traditions. The only difference? This mystery is populated entirely by cats.
The Ghost of Christmas Paws by Mandy Morton is the fourth book in the No. 2. Feline Detective Agency series. If you love cats and are a fan of anthropomorphism, this is the series for you.
Cat detectives Hettie Bagshot and her sidekick/assistant Tilly Jenkins have been dispatched to snowy Cornwall to solve a mystery. Lady Eloise Crabstock-Singe, the lady of Crabstock Manor, believes her manor is haunted by the cat Christmas Paws, who wants to murder her. Lady Eloise suspects it will occur by Christmas Eve, as her sister and brothers died on that day. Hettie and Tilly get to work, trying to get to the bottom of the mystery.
The tabbies (not to mention the readers) have their work cut out for them, as there are enough suspicious characters populating Crabstock Manor and its surroundings to keep everyone guessing.
The mystery is also stuffed with literary references. The title is obviously aped from A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, but book lovers also will delight in mentions of Agatha Crispy, Miss Havisham and the cat of the Baskervilles.
This would be a perfect stocking stuffer for the cat lovers in your life. It’s fun to imagine them living very human lives, all while taking breaks to purr and groom themselves when necessary.
