"Absolutely fascinating, this book focuses on 24 true stories about people who sit outside of the norm, from the politically astute, to the courageously brave, to a thief and liar, all however, are mavericks."
Oh-so witty and smart, this captivating and highly entertaining book about mavericks has been chosen as a LoveReading Star Book and Liz Pick of the Month. Author Jenny Draper hits all the right notes, her introduction is on-point while being clear that not all of these mavericks could be classed as being good! She has chosen people who as she says, have found themselves: “on the weird side of history”, and I loved her bonus gift to the reader, there are some excellent names to be found. All of these mavericks are from or have visited the UK, some such as the Crofts and Noor Inayat Khan are full of indescribable courage, while Thomas Blood has oodles of reprehensible confidence. At times I found myself smirking, at others aching with compassion, no matter the reason for their inclusion, all are absolutely fascinating! This would make an excellent gift for others or yourself. You can read in order or open at random, and the lessons to learn most definitely made me smile. Celebrating some of the most interesting people in history, Mavericks is a corker of a book and as entertaining as it is thought-provoking.
