"Featuring retellings of fifty stories which are believed to have been told by the Buddha, this gorgeously illustrated treasury is ideal for sharing warm wisdom with little ones before bed."
Accessible, enchanting and inspirational, Dharmachari Nagaraja’s The Buddha at Bedtime Treasury brings together fifty stories from three classic collections — Buddha at Bedtime, The Buddha's Apprentice at Bedtime and Calm Buddha at Bedtime.
Re-tellings of the Jataka Tales — captivating, compassionate stories which are thought to have been first told by the Buddha — this is the perfect book to share with children as part of a calming bedtime routine.
Before sharing the stories, Nagaraja suggests how to make the most of the book, and explains the main teachings of Buddhism, covering the guiding light of the Three Jewels, the Four Noble Truths, and the Noble Eightfold Path. He also shares advice on mediation, and tips for living a more mindful life.
As for the stories themselves, they’re perfectly-pitched for young children, all of them vivid, characterful tales that evoke landscape, emotion, thoughtfulness and adventure at one fell swoop.
