This short story is a vignette depicting what can happen in the late autumn of life. Hope, joy and love; despair and loss; doubt, disappointment and disbelief; and, memories which at times seem hard to bear. Old acquaintances appear, confusion and anxiety interrupt, togetherness dissipates. Loneliness is a terrible thing. 'Never back away from happiness' they say, but it can be taken away in a brutal and cruel fashion, suddenly and with no explanation. Reflection and peace are usually the norm in "e;Late Autumn"e;. But who said life was easy? Has it ever been?
