Well now, this is different! Adventurous and romantic in the same breath, and oh what a breath… Lexi and Zeke get more than they bargained for when a one night stand turns into a fight for survival as a moored houseboat gets swept out to sea. I have thoroughly enjoyed Beth O’Leary’s novels since reading her debut The Flatshare. She has always taken the genre of romance and relationships and made them feel bang up-to-date and relevant. Here she goes one step further and adds a properly epic adventure into the mix. This isn’t adventure with a little romance, this isn’t romance with a little adventure, the two are beautifully blended into one story, and what a story. The majority of the tale focuses on Lexi and Zeke, each gets their turn in the spotlight, telling their own version of events. It is very cleverly done, they both became equally important to me and I also loved how the age difference is developed. There is almost an element of a locked room mystery, and as they struggled against the elements, I had no idea as to the direction we were heading in. The sense of place is intense, there are two main locations within this adventure and I felt I knew both intimately. There is also humour to be found and a welcome lightness of touch which I loved as it acted as a balance to the darker and more emotional moments. Original, bold, and absolutely gorgeous, Swept Away is a LoveReading Star Book and highly recommended by our team.

Lexi is looking for no-strings-attached fun with a stranger. She deserves one night for herself, doesn't she?
Zeke is looking for love. But for one night with a woman like Lexi, he'll break his rules . . .
Sparks fly at the pub, one passionate kiss leads to another and they end up stumbling home to the marina together.
The next morning, hungover and shaken by an amazing night together, Lexi is more than ready for Zeke to leave. There's just one small problem . . . the houseboat they stayed on has been swept out to sea.
As their supplies start to run dangerously low, and the waves pick up, Zeke and Lexi soon realise there's much more on the line than their new relationship.
How long can they really survive on a drifting houseboat in the North Sea? Will search and rescue find them? And who will they be if they both make it back to dry land?

About Beth O'Leary
Beth studied English at university before going into children's publishing. She lives as close to the countryside as she can get while still being in reach of London, and wrote her first novel, The Flatshare, on her train journey to and from work. She is now writing novels full time, and if she's not at her desk, you'll usually find her curled up somewhere with a book, a cup of tea, and several woolly jumpers (whatever the weather).
