"It's a trendy premise for Bianca Gillam’s debut romcom, which delivers many of BookTok's favourite tropes, including forced proximity, work romance, second chances, and enemies to lovers"
This book has a strong premise and title which I have no doubt will pull the gorgeous BookTok girlies in, and a full inventory of some of the most popular romcom tropes to keep them there, including forced proximity, work romance, second chances, and (always my personal favourite) enemies to lovers. It also ticks all the boxes of setting, travelling between glamorous US publishing, quaint European bookshops, and beautiful Edinburgh. On the romance/comedy scale, this book prioritises the former, prioritising charting the characters’ emotions. You don’t have to be knowledgeable about publishing to follow the book tour plot as the book prioritises the little moments of Andie and Jack’s shifting relationship more than going in depth to the book events. The story then becomes more about their past, when they were at university together, and the buried events which led them to distrust each other – which was darker than I expected, with an alternate take on the Bad Publicity title.
I’m excited to read what Bianca writes next!
