Deep-dive into the lives of the parents left grasping for answers after their daughter goes missing in this smart and addictive crime novel we've declared a LoveReading Star Book. Seventeen year old Sophie has disappeared, her parents have abandoned their careers to try to find answers and are desperate to question a suspicious neighbour. Put Imran Mahmood on your list of go-to authors, he creates a whole new perspective to a crime novel, writing in a way that is compelling and feels sharply different. I adored his I know What I Saw which is out in paperback and another Liz Pick of the Month. Human emotion is splashed like graffiti all over Finding Sophie, it bites and burrows under your skin. It is all too easy to imagine the parents torment, and the finely weaved tightrope wire they must balance between right and wrong. Lines became blurred, my heart was swamped, I didn’t know which where to turn, or where the book was going to take me. So clever I just had to include it as another Liz Pick of the Month, Finding Sophie grabbed my hand, pulled me in tight, and didn’t let go. Highly recommended.
A brilliantly compelling domestic suspense from a rising star of the crime fiction world, and the man behind BBC/Netflix smash hit, You Don't Know Me Sophie King is missing. Her parents, Harry and Zara, are distraught; for the last seventeen years, they've done everything for their only daughter. The police have no leads, and Harry and Zara are growing increasingly frantic – and increasingly obsessed with their highly suspicious neighbour. He won't open the door, he won't answer any questions. If they want answers, they're going to have to take matter into their own hands. But just how far are they both prepared to go? Praise for Imran Mahmood: ‘You’ve never read anything quite like this’ Financial Times ‘Impressively original’ The Times ‘Mahmood is most definitely one to watch’ Daily Express ‘Utterly compelling’ Daily Mail ‘Superb character-driven fiction. Masterful’ Guardian ‘Thoroughly compulsive’ T.M. Logan ‘Superb’ M.W. Craven
I loved it, so smart and the plot twists blew me away. Imran is the only author writing about a missing person that deals with grief this well -- Gillian McAllister A thoroughly compulsive ticking-clock thriller -- T. M. Logan, author of THE HOLIDAY and THE CURFEW, on All I Said Was True A searing take-down of privilege, our unequal society and indeed of traditional crime whodunnits. Mahmood writes sympathetically and intelligently -- Gillian McAllister, author of WRONG PLACE, WRONG TIME, on I Know What I Saw A tense literary thriller about the lies we persist in telling ourselves and our inability to escape our damaged pasts -- Sarah Vaughan, author of REPUTATION and ANATOMY OF A SCANDAL, on I Know What I Saw
