LoveReading Says
Brightly and attractively illustrated, Molly Potter’s book will help children think about different behaviours. It shows them how sometimes they will do things that are not helpful – to themselves or others around them – and why that might be.
It also demonstrates how we can choose to act differently, no matter how we’re feeling. It covers a dozen different behaviour choices, from telling lies or being honest, to giving up or being determined, to being grumpy or cheerful. On each double page it explains why you might choose one way to behave, but also shows which is the better option.
The open discussion format and the clear, appealing way of describing things will encourage children to talk and learn and will surely equip them to make better decisions in the future. Final pages contain notes for grown-ups too explaining how to use the book and apply the techniques it proposes. A book that will prove extremely useful to adults and children.

About
What Makes Me Do The Things I Do? A picture book for talking about behaviour and emotions with child Synopsis
From the best-selling author of How Are You Feeling Today?, this thoughtful picture book teaches children how to find new ways of expressing themselves.
'Why am I losing my temper?' 'Why am I being grumpy?' This important book prompts children to question certain behaviours and why they happen. Addressing common situations in a sympathetic and humorous way, What Makes Me Do The Things I Do? answers key behavioural concerns and encourages children to self-reflect, consider how their actions affect others and manage their emotions.
This book is ideal for sharing with young children, or to give to older children to read independently. Written in child-friendly language, this picture book explores 12 typical behaviours that children engage in - such as temper tantrums, telling lies or cheating - and offers 12 constructive behaviours to consider instead, like staying calm, being honest or playing fairly.
There are fun, colourful illustrations by Sarah Jennings throughout and helpful notes for parents and carers at the back of the book, with tips for encouraging positive behaviour early on.

About Molly Potter
Molly Potter taught for 11 years in middle schools as a class teacher, science and PSHE coordinator. She then worked for several years as an SRE (Sex and Relationships Education) development manager, delivering teacher training and supporting primary schools in the development of their SRE programme and policy and many other aspects of PSHE. Molly now works as a teacher in a short-stay school with children that have been or are at risk of being excluded from mainstream schools - putting much of her PSHE expertise into practice. Sarah Jennings has been illustrating children's books since graduating in 2013. At a young age she discovered a love of drawing and has been scribbling and sketching ever since. Sarah enjoys combining traditional and digital techniques to create her illustrations and particularly loves designing characters. She currently lives in London and works from her home studio in the company of her very cheeky three-legged cat.
