I was positively radiating joy at the thought of this collection and it more than lived up to my expectations. Each story settles into December, from advent through to the Christmas period itself. Each story encourages unease and apprehension to develop and expand with consummate skill. Each story thrilled my ghostly-loving heart. These twelve tales range in plot and setting, from offering a menacing foreboding through to delivering sharp and concentrated hammer blows. One of the most wonderful things about a short story is that it can push you off a towering cliff of fear and leave you caught in that precise moment without explanation or thought of rescue. A short story can be more powerful, more profound, more extraordinary, and that is most certainly the case here.
