LoveReading Says
This fabulous start to a new series sits firmly on the offbeat side of life, and I’m still buzzing from a reading high! The Last Dance is so good it just has to join our LoveReading Star Books category. DS Declan Miller returns to work in Blackpool to find a new partner and two murders waiting for him. Mark Billingham is one of my go-to authors, he has the most wonderful storytelling abilities, creating memorable characters and sizzling storylines. I was thrilled to learn that a new series was on the way, and I already know it is going to be one of my all-time favourites. The first few pages set up the main character, plot, and series with aplomb, I was deliberately knocked slightly off-kilter and then bang, things fell into place and I was as hooked as a hooked thing can be. Eccentric and then some, DS Declan Miller has shot to the top of my list of treasured fictional crime fighters and his new partner is the perfect foil. The author’s trademark blend of humour and biting reality slides perfectly into the plot and kept me turning the pages late into the night. This is a series that I predict will shine just as brightly as DI Tom Thorne. Edgy, witty, and beautifully rewarding, The Last Dance comes with a whopping thumbs up from me.

The Last Dance Synopsis
Meet Detective Miller: unique, unconventional, and criminally underestimated...
He's a detective, a dancer, he has no respect whatsoever for authority - and he's the best hope Blackpool has for keeping criminals off the streets. Meet Detective Declan Miller.
A double murder in a seaside hotel sees grieving Miller return to work to solve what appears to be a case of mistaken identity. Just why were two completely unconnected men taken out?
With a distinctly loose relationship with reality and a new partner to deal with, can eccentric, offbeat Miller find answers where more traditional police have found only an impossible puzzle?
