Illustrated by an in-depth study of the Eastern Arc Mountains of Tanzania, this volume examines the role of community in the management of natural resources along with stakeholders' rights, responsibilities and relationships to the forest. The author: reviews the significance of natural forest in the Eastern Arc; identifies changing forest management approaches in Tanzania; identifies stakeholders in natural forest management and whether they are primary or secondary stakeholders; examines historical imbalances in stakeholders' roles and relations between stakeholders; and draws conclusions on the effect of imbalances in stakeholders' roles on the development of sustainable forest management practices in the Eastern Arc.
