About

Anglo-Italian Transnational Fascism Synopsis

This book examines the pro-Italian political and cultural expressions by British far right elites and their exchanges with Italian fascism. In particular, the book considers the reception of Italian Fascism among British Italophiles based in Florence and London. In so doing, it helps to identify the theoretical elements on which these actors based their support for Mussolini's policies. These include the impact of Catholicism in shaping a pro-Fascist attitude towards Mussolini's regime from the Lateran Pacts in 1929 until the outbreak of the Second World War; the often negative views towards Nazi Germany from 1933 onwards; the reception of corporatism and consequent proposals for it to be 'exported' beyond Fascist Italy -the international diffusion of the Italian political and economic model abroad.
