LoveReading Says
An authentically atmospheric and gutsy crime novel where the lurking tension and suspense gangs up to menace and harass your senses. There are definitely not any mundane murders on offer here, instead there is a chilling case that offers Daley a turbulent hunt for the killer. Along side Daley is his loyal sidekick, a close knit gossipy community, a prophesying local and a handful of overstretched investigating officers. Occasionally secondary characters are allowed to voice their thoughts which offers an interesting insight into Daley and may slightly alter the direction your thoughts are taking. The author not only knows his stuff but has the ability to paint a picture of the town and seascape, bringing the surroundings evocatively to life. Extorting grimaces and flinches, provoking scoffs and chuckles, this is an entirely captivating debut novel by a former officer. ~ Liz Robinson
A 'Piece of Passion' from the publisher...
‘From the first chapter, I was gripped. Written by ex-policeman Denzil Meyrick, this is an authentic and well-researched crime thriller based in small-town Scotland. Dark and unpredictable, the mood is lightened by the distinctive humour of Daley’s partner, DS Scott, and the eccentric habits of the town’s inhabitants. The fast-moving plot is full of twists and surprises, as Denzil deftly begins to draw the different strands together into a surprising and dramatic conclusion.’ Julie Fergusson, editor at Polygon

Whisky from Small Glasses Synopsis
When the body of a young woman is washed up on an idyllic beach on the west coast of Scotland, D.C.I. Jim Daley is despatched from Glasgow to lead the investigation. Far from home, and his troubled marriage, it seems that Daley’s biggest obstacle will be managing the difficult local police chief; but when the prime suspect is gruesomely murdered, the inquiry begins to stall. As the body count rises, Daley uncovers a network of secrets and corruption in the closeknit community of Kinloch, thrusting him and his loved ones into the centre of a case more deadly than he had ever imagined. The first novel in the D.C.I. Daley series, Whisky from Small Glasses is a truly compelling crime novel, shot through with dark humour and menace.
