An Edinburgh-based police-procedural debut crime novel featuring Alice Rice with the second one coming into hardback at the same time (Where the Shadow Falls). This is very special indeed. It starts quite ordinarily but as the body count mounts so too do the red-herrings, through to an unexpected ending. Full of pathos, one is left with the strange feeling that maybe the killings were justified. Quite something.
