This collection of over 200 photographs depicts how Fulham has developed from an area renowned for its rich and fertile soil, producing fruit and vegetables for the London markets, into the densely populated and vibrant centre it is known as today. Once populated by market gardens and orchards this area became home to many, where riverside mansions gave way to new housing projects and the outline of present-day Fulham began to take shape.

Through the images of street scenes, buildings and commercial activities this book gives a brief glimpse of what life would have been like for the inhabitants of Fulham during the last three centuries.
