This was actually first published in 1998 but owing to the present popularity of historical fiction, the publishers have sensibly re-issued for it is a glorious medieval tale of war, court customs and a spirited girl who wants to make something of her life so trains to be a midwife! It’s a bit different and really good.

The Love Knot Synopsis
The year is 1140 and England is torn by the strife of civil war. Oliver Pascal chances upon a village raided by mercenaries and rescues the survivors: an orphaned boy, who is the illegitimate son of the old king, and his mother's maid, a young widow named Catrin.
