Although there exist several books on the interstellar medium (ISM), on gas dynamics, and on star formation, there exists no single comprehensive text relating the large-scale dynamical aspects of the ISM (i.e., its regime of flow) and their connection to the process of star formation. The purpose of the proposed book is to fill the gap, and to provide a comprehensive view of the role of the many physical processes active in a dynamic and turbulent picture of the ISM, and how these ultimately lead to the formation of stars.
