Whereas Mozart, Verdi and Fauré interpreted the sacred Requiem text literally, Goodall's Requiem, by contrast, is distinguished by the inclusion of English poetry, mixed with fragments of Latin, sung simultaneously or antiphonally between the soloists and the choir.
