LoveReading Says
This is travel-writing for the modern woman who can afford to do it in style. What an inspired idea for instead of just inquisitive visits, the author hops around the world doing courses! I love it; music in Cuba, cooking in Paris, calligraphy and flower arranging in Kyoto, a hundred times better than just the world trip. She is a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist so the writing is good too.

Educating Alice Synopsis
Six years ago, Alice Steinbach, a Pulitzer prize-winning journalist, decided to take a break from her life. She went on a journey of self-discovery, and her first book, Without Reservations, was the exquisite result of that trip.
This funny and tender book is the result of Steinbach’s decision to roam the world again, taking lessons and courses in things such as French cooking in Paris, Border-collie training in Scotland and art in Havana. With warmth and wit Steinbach guides us through the pleasures and perils of discovering how to be a student again.
Her time spent with fellow students of all ages was, as she'd hoped, every bit as educational as her courses. Steinbach gained a second chance at some roads not taken – a chance to reconnect with her past, when so many options were still open to her. In pursuing interests she'd never had time to fully explore, she finds that her sense of curiosity is as strong as it ever was, and, as she discovers during the course of this wonderful trip, we are never too old to learn.
